KAT HARVEY- BARAKAT
Kat started dancing from the age of 3 and competed nationally and internationally for many years. At 17, a heartbreaking injury forced her dance career to end. A few years later, after working as a Personal Trainer and also in the Events/Marketing industry, Kat found yoga. She began to realise that the reason behind 14 years of dance training and those hours working in a gym learning how the body works, was to prepare her body for yoga asana. It was her mind that took a little longer to immerse itself.
Kat’s teaching style is fun, strong and dynamic with focus on the breath, self love and compassion. Kat aims to stimulate the energetic body as much as the physical body to bring her students to one-ness.

A local to the west coast of Canada, known for it’s alternative lifestyles and outdoor enthusiasts, Christy has always been very interested in health and wellness. It was this interest, which introduced her to herbal medicine and acupuncture. In 2004, while working for Bikram Yoga, she had the opportunity to practise yoga daily and participate in ongoing challenges. It was here that she realized the benefits resulting from a regular practise. It wasn’t until a year later, when she began to take yoga seriously, maintaining a dedicated Ashtanga practise, that her passion to teach surfaced. Christy completed her RYT 250 at Moksana Yoga Centre in 2010 and has continued teaching since. Studying the health sciences have allowed her to appreciate yoga as both a physical therapy for a variety of ailments as well as a tool for personal growth.
